xkbset(1)

NAME

xkbset - set/reset X11 keyboard

SYNOPSIS

xkbset [ options ]

DESCRIPTION

xkbset is similar to the setxkbmap tool but designed to work within SaX2. xkbset is not as powerfull as setxkbmap
but easier to use in combination with the xkbctrl tool. xkbset requires an apply string containing the following
parameters in a colon seperated list:

[ keymap ] default: xfree86
[ keycodes ] default: xfree86
[ compat ] default: complete
[ types ] default: complete
[ symbols ] default: en_US(pc101) us keyboard
[ geometry ] default: pc(pc101)

If you want to map a specific console keyboard to the X11
analogon you can use the xkbctrl tool with the name of the console map as argument. For example:

xkbset -l `xkbctrl us.map.gz | grep Apply | cut -f 4 -d

COMMAND LINE OPTIONS

Available command line options are the following:

-l applystring
The apply string as colon seperated list as
explained above.
-d display
The display to apply the keyboard to.
