mime.charsets(5)

NAME

mime.charsets - list of character sets which are ASCII su
persets

DESCRIPTION

The mime.charsets file lists MIME character sets which are
a superset of us-ascii, ie that characters 0 to 255 are the same
as in us-ascii. This is true of the iso-8859-* character sets
which are standardised for use in internet mail.
Af uses this information to determine whether to display
the text of a message in a given charset, or to treat it as an
unknown type.
Lines in the file which start with a '#' are treated as
comments and ignored, as are blank lines. Each other line lists
a character set which is an ASCII superset.
